We can bezel set any stone in the center of the pentagram. We usually place a 3mm cabochon in the extra small, a 4 mm cabochon in the small, a 5 or 6 mm cabochon in the medium, a 7 or 8 mm cabochon in the large and a 10 or 12 mm stone in the extra large. We can also set faceted stones. The most popular stones for the center of a pentagram are amethyst, moonstone, garnet, ruby, opal, and onyx or hematite. The five points and the divine center of the pentagram have corresponding stones. In this example, the top point (the Spirit) is represented by purple and is an amethyst. Then, clockwise: Water is represented by a blue stone, in this case lapis lazuli; Earth a green or black stone, here a malachite; Fire is represented by a red stone, here a garnet; Air a yellow or light green stone, here a citrine. The center is a moonstone, though amethyst can be interchanged with moonstone as they are both considered to be 'high chakra stones.' You can imagine that there are many (many) interpretations and ideas about which point is which material: where they are located on the pentagram; what colors represent them and what stones equal those colors. Pentagrams are sometimes known as pentacles - same thing. The origin of the symbol may be Sumerian or Babylonian or Greek and is a result of astronomical research since the movement of the planet Venus across the sky plots exactly this sign.
This is a heavier version of the pentagram, in which the design is backed with a textured silver plate. This design could be made in 14kt gold, or in a combination of gold and silver - and look terrific! Celtic Pentagram Jewelry
The Celtic pentagram has the same wondrous meaning as all the other pentagrams - but this one has an internal circle (still a significator for the divine) interwoven through an already interwoven star. It is a typical Celtic design of the simpler sort and reflects the early Celts' life view: everything from birth to death, from wonderful to horrifying is interwoven to the point of being one. Celts believed that their dead went to the Apple Isles and if you cut an apple in half crosswise, the core reveals a pentagram! Spooky.

There's an ongoing, probably never to be resolved, argument over whether a 5 pointed endless knot star in a circle is a pentagram or a pentacle. In general Wiccans and practitioners of witchcraft prefer the term pentacle for the symbol we choose to call a pentagram, while pentagrams in double circles we used to define as pentacles. But then, thinking: what's in a name? we decided to just call them all pentagrams. Stones can be added to this design also - see below for one variation.

The snake eating its tail is a symbol for eternity, a Gnostic symbol for the world serpent or dragon that protects the cosmic egg (that's us). He is also known as the Worm Ourobouros - for more worms, see Gnostic. The worm/snake/dragon has come to symbolize the cyclic process of time - birth-death-rebirth. Curiously it took a request from a customer before we realized that we were missing this obvious variation of the pentagram with snake. Here the snake eating its tail, symbolizing the cyclic and seasonal movements of nature, combines with the sexual and earth energy of the inverted pentagram in a clear image of interdependence and circularity. The inverted pentagram emphasizes the importance of earth or sexual energy; the generative force that manifests the universe. Popularized as a Satanic symbol by the mass media the point down pentagram can be found in many places, even within the Order of the Eastern Star. The outline of the inverted pentagram can be seen to form a goat's head and so is sacred to Baphomet - The Horned God. Eliphas Levi was none too fond of the inverted pentagram, calling it a 'symbol of evil." Furthermore, he said:
"The flaming star, which, when turned upside down, is the hierolgyphic [sic] sign of the goat of Black Magic, whose head may be drawn in the star, the two horns at the top, the ears to the right and left, the beard at the bottom. The pentagram is also used in traditional Chinese medicine, where the points refer to fire, earth, metal, water and wood. The outer circle stands for generation and yang. The inner circle (the rim of the yin yang) stands for preservation and yin. The Tai Chi, or yin yang, itself is a Taoist symbol which stands for the union and mutuality of apparent opposites. Unlike her sisters above, which are clearly on the side of the light in magick, the inverted pentagram, as always, refers to sexual or generative magick and, with the Triple Goddess, to the dark side of the goddess as Kali the Destroyer. You can't have creation without destruction after all - but you knew that! Usually the central stone is black: black onyx, black star saphire or black diamond (!), symbolizing the dark side of the moon but garnet (red moon) also looks wonderful. This design is a combination pentagram with a double circle and a Triple Goddess with a moonstone. Originally we cut out the pentagram and the crescent moons separately from the double circle and soldered them on top - but the price was prohibitive so we compromised by having just the crescents cut out and soldered separately. Inverted Pentagram with S Rune Jewelry
We think this is similar to the pendant Anton LaVey wore. The Sowilo rune is one of the Eldar Futhark runes and it means 'sun.' The doubling of this rune becomes the insignia of the Schultzstaffel (the SS) of the Third Reich. There's a link between the occultism of Nazi Germany and both the Church of Satan and the Temple of Set. How seriously this link is to be taken is difficult to know but I'm fairly certain that it was not important to LaVey.

LaVey Pentagram Jewelry
This interesting tribute to Anton LaVey was described to us as the symbol worn by him - and this was before we had seen the above piece so, what did we know? Our friend was half remembering what LaVey actually wore and I sort of see the similarity to the inverted pentagram/S rune, if you were to combine the S rune and the downward point of the pentagram! The pentagram is either right side up or up side down, depending on how you look at it. It accentuates the earth/sexual force, since that point is longer, in both interpretations - an interesting feat, but no surprise when attached to the capable Mr. LaVey - even as a tribute.

Any of the symbols we make can be oxidized. The way we do that is by texturing the piece all over front and back and then soaking it in an oxidizing solution and then burnishing it so it has a beautiful sheen and the oxidation won't rub off. This is the LaVey Pentagram oxidized.

This symbol, also one of our own designs, incorporates the male symbol (also known as the symbol for Mars) with the pentagram. This symbol has been very popular in the Gay Pagan community, but is obviously appropriate for any man practicing magick. As with the Pentagram/Female with Stone, a stone can be added to the center of the pentagram here. Email us about that. Note that we offer an Extra Extra Large in the male pentagram. We can do that (of course) with the female pentagram - but we get WAAY more calls for it from the men! I have no idea what that means.

Pentagram Band Ring with Hematite
One customer requested a ring with a rectangular hematite and a pentagram cut into the band, as shown. Much later we saw a ring like this - real cheap and shoddy - on some import 'witches r us' site. No wonder he was so thrilled! Rings like this run $250 or more. As always email for price.
Repeating Pentagram Ring, 14kt Gold with Amethysts
This repeating pentagram 14kt gold ring (size 6) consists of eight pentagrams with eight 2 mm faceted amethysts. Mark actually won't do this ring again! He put it here more as an example of the insane projects he sometimes takes on. The pentagrams are only 10 mm wide. Mark still doesn't know how he made this ring. Since the whole piece is fabricated, not cast, the internal cuts were sometimes little larger than the saw blade. An example of magickal intervention if ever we saw one. Now THAT'S custom!
LaVey Pentagram Ring
The LaVey Pentagram symbol makes a fine (though somewhat lethal) ring. This ring costs $250 in sterling silver.

Pentagram Split Band Ring, 14kt Gold with Emerald
Another variant for pentagram rings is this style, which, without a stone, in a size 9, runs about $450. This style is known as a split band. In a size 9 the pentagram is about the size of an American penny, that is about 19 mm or 0.8" in diameter. The ring can be made in smaller sizes, with the pentagram proportionately smaller. With a 4 mm cabachon emerald the price of a ring like this would be around $540, but please, as always for custom karat gold call or email for price.
Pentagram Signet Ring with Sapphire
An argentium sterling silver pentagram signet ring with a AAA+ sapphire. Argentium, which is what we use now instead of plain sterling silver has germanium added to the pure silver and pure coper that make up sterling silver. Germanium makes the piece of jewelry strong as steel when it is heat treated and - resistant to tarnish! This ring without that fabulous stone would cost around $400.
Pentagram Signet Ring with Onyx, 14kt Gold Pentagram and Sigils
This ring combines a 14kt gold pentagram, triskalion, and wiccan triangle with a sterling signet base. This type of ring is always custom and costs around $500 to $750, depending on the amount of gold. This ring has an onyx in the center, All our rings are completely hand crafted, not cast, created from silver or gold sheet, or here, a combination of the two metals.
Custom Pentagram Signet Ring
This complex ring, a pentagram on top of a Hexagram with ruby, emerald, yellow topaz and amethyst was crafted from sterling silver and 14kt gold sheet. It is one of the most difficult rings we have made. Similar rings would run $1250.
